This Sunday 7th Feb, the 50th Super Bowl will take place in the Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara between Carolina Panthers vs Denver Broncos and it is time for the TV network CBS to celebrate!
With viewing figures in excess of 110 million last year, companies such as Coca Cola, Pepsico, Honda and Volkswagon are tripping over themselves to purchase advertising space during the Super Bowl to target this vast viewing audience! According to Fortune.com, advertisers are willing to pay $5,000,000 for a 30 second ad space during the game, yes you heard me right $5,000,000! That equates to $167,000 per second.
Super Bowl advertising has become a major competition between all the large companies to see which ad will capture the hearts and minds of viewers and win Super Bowl Sunday. Many companies employ big Hollywood names to star in their commercials, such as Bruce Willis in Honda’s 2014 Hug Fest Ad and Liam Neeson in LG’s 2016 ad “Future of tv” which was produced by Ridley’s Scott production company (adage.com, 2016).
Unfortunately, Super Bowl Sunday is currently out of our budget (maybe next year!) but to celebrate the Superbowl I have listed below three of my favourite Super Bowl ads. Enjoy the videos and if you are near Santa Clara you can still buy tickets for the Super Bowl which start at $2990!
